Recent Eavesdropping

I’ve been working with my son’s scout troupe lately, and overheard this conversation on the way back from a camping trip recently…
[Older Scout]: (As the van is slogging up a hill) We’re going too slow. We may need to lighten the load by throwing some of the younger guys out the back.
[Whiney Young Scout]: Nuh uh! If you do, my mom will sue you!
[Older Scout]: No she wouldn’t. She would sue the scout master.
[Whiney Young Scout]: Well, she would sue you too!
[Older Scout]: (amused) Well, I’m going to sue your grandma.
[Whiney Young Scout]: No you won’t. You don’t even know where my grandma lives!
Whiney Young Scout had a good point about the unknown identity of his grandmother. But what I want to know is: what ever happened to ‘My dad is going to beat up your dad’?

Yes, kids nowadays are VERY different. We have an empty lot next to our house and the neighborhood kids turned it into a motocross track and now the lot is under construction and these kids are climbing all over the new foundation. Bad things were happening during the motocross phase and now even worse things are happening. We go to 'shoo' the kids away from the dangerous site and they give us lip like we were some kind of nobody's. If I treated adults like this when I was a kid I would have my Dad's size 12's implanted in my rear end. No, not child abuse. D I S C I P L I N E. Something modern parents have forgotten. I don't know if they have over compensated for fear of actual child abuse or if being 'PC' has just been taken too far. These rising generation of kids has 'trouble' written all over it. No respect for their elders. We ought to ship em all over to Japan so they can learn about respecting your elders. Ok, rant over, how you doing anyway?
You still haven't translated your previous post. I'm way confused.

I'm thinking about suing your grandma now . . . still trying to come up with a reason, but I'm not even sure you need one anymore.
I hear what you're saying, Kevin. The last time I went to VOLUNTEER my precious time in my 6th grader's classroom, certain kids were so rude to me I told the room mom I wouldn't go back. I'm gonna go have a valium now before I get too worked up.

perhaps it's for the best...I've heard rumors that some aspects of computer use can become addictions. Maybe he's in a "computer users anonymous" group or something. We should support him.
Not that this will do anything, but I thought I would make a comment since it's been over a year!!! Are you blogging elsewhere now?
